Fashion & Form

Today’s post marks more of a personal journey rather than a physical one. Life as an artist is a journey filled with many ups and downs. With each success and hurdle you overcome, your goal posts change. If you don’t stop, reflect and celebrate the successes along the way, you can feel like you are going no where. It’s important to remember where you started in order to measure how far you have come.

If I could tell my 16 year old self that at 25 I would be living and working as a photographer in New York City, my head would have exploded with excitement. I was a teenager with big dreams. Someone once told me that…. “if my dreams didn’t terrify me I wasn’t dreaming big enough.” My dreams have always terrified me. They are plenty big enough.

Last week I was in the studio enjoying a glass of champagne before a fashion shoot with up and coming stylist Andi Hensley when I had a moment of perspective. I enjoyed a quiet New York minute to myself to take in where I was, what I was doing and who I was with. I don’t need to tell you how satisfying that was.

I still have so far to go on my journey to fulfil my personal legend but I am well on my way and never before have I been so excited about the future.

Thank you to Andi for her collaboration on the shoot. I think we make a great team. Thank you also to Tyler Sutherland for getting her model on and Christian Oth for the lend of the studio for the night. Your support is much appreciated.

P.S: To create the images below I took photos around Brooklyn, edited them to make them more graphic, then projected them over the model and changed my white balance to fluorescent to get the cool colours. I love how the wire fence makes Tyler look like she is wearing fishnets. Sort of like lingerie for bad ass bitches. Anyhow…enjoy.
